'Everybody Knows' to become Spain representative at Oscars

Asghar Farhadi's 'Everybody Knows' is to be introduced to 2019 Oscars as Spain cinema representative.

Two-time-Oscar-winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi's 'Everybody Knows' is to be introduced to 2019 Oscars as Spain cinema representative.

According to a media report, the film is among the three titles pre-selected to be considered as Spanish cinema representation at 91st Academy Awards.

Two other Spanish titles have been pre-picked along with Farhadi's movie. The two films are 'Giant' by Jon Garano and Aitor Arregi and 'Champions' directed by Javier Fesser.

'Everybody Knows' tells the story of a woman named Laura who lives with her husband and children in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In an unexpected turn of events, the family's course of life changes on their trip to Spain.

The flick is Farhadi’s second film shot outside Iran. In 2012, he directed 'The Past' in French language in Paris. 'The Past' brought its star, Berenice Bejo, the Palme d’Or for best actress in 2013.

Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz who are a couple in real life costar in this Farhadi's production.
